International Activities at CHP/PCOR

CHP/PCOR's faculty, affiliates and visiting scholars conduct a variety of research that analyzes and compares healthcare practices, policies, utilization rates, socioeconomic characteristics, costs and outcomes in countries around the world. The centers' international activities explore themes including:

  • comparisons of different countries' healthcare delivery and financing systems
  • the diffusion of medical technologies worldwide
  • global infectious diseases
  • racial and ethnic disparities in healthcare delivery and outcomes
  • bioterrorism preparedness and response
  • improving access to health care, particularly for disadvantaged populations in developing countries

This work is made possible through CHP/PCOR's collaboration with a network of international affiliates, who represent more than 20 countries and work in a variety of disciplines including medicine, economics, statistics, epidemiology, demography and psychology. The centers' international work is part of a larger portfolio of research and training activities affiliated with the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford, of which the Center for Health Policy is a unit.
