the economic implications of hospitals' quality improvement initiatives; the use of methods such as decision analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis to improve hospital systems


Kanaka Shetty joined CHP/PCOR in July 2005 to participate in the Veterans Affairs' Fellowship in Ambulatory Care Practice and Research. Prior to that, he served as a practicing hospitalist physician at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Richmond, Calif. He is interested in the economic implications of hospitals' quality improvement initiatives, and in using methods such as decision analysis and cost-effectiveness analysis to improve hospital systems.

He received a BS in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale University, where he conducted research on RNA enzyme structural biology, and received an MD from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
