Eric Schmidt joined CHP/PCOR in 2008 as a research assistant for the Quality and Patient Safety Indicators project. He has spent a majority of his time at the centers focusing on the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Prevention Quality Indication measure set. However, he has also assisted with other quality indicator projects at the centers focusing on hospital readmissions, home and community-based services, care coordination, and hospital emergency preparedness.
Eric received his B.A. in psychology with honors, and he is currently working toward his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University where he is pursuing double emphasis in Community Mental Health and Health Psychology. His professional interests include mental health services utilization and access to integrated medical/mental health care delivery systems. Eric Schmidt is currently leading research projects examining 1) internet-based social networking support for serious mental illness, and 2) coding guidance discrepancies in mental health diagnoses.
