An eyewitness account of Pakistan's emerging democracy

Appeared in Reuters/The Daily Beast, May 31, 2013

CISAC Affiliate Anja Manuel weighs in on Pakistan's young democracy, particularly its growing women's rights movement. Manuel, a lecturer in the International Policy Studies program, where she designed and teaches a course on U.S. policy toward South Asia, traveled to Lahore in May as an international election monitor for the country's first peaceful civilian transition of power since the country's founding in 1947.

In these two articles, she talks about what she witnessed in Lahore and the hopeful signs for women in the South Asian nation.
